The tree that remembered
The pear tree bloomed in November. Mara noticed it from the kitchen window, one white branch against a sky the colour of wet wool. She put down her cup. In thirty years of tending the orchard, she had learned which things could wait until morning. This was not one of them. Outside, the grass was silver with frost. Yet beneath the old tree the earth was warm, and the air smelled of bread. Not the bread from the village bakery. Her mother's bread, with rosemary pressed into the crust.

Where are my drafts saved?
Drafts and snapshots are saved in this browser on this device. They do not sync to an account. Download a JSON backup before clearing browser data or moving to another device.
Can I go back to an earlier version?
Yes. Save a version at any point, then restore it from the workspace. TaleFinch keeps up to ten snapshots per story. You can also download a separate backup whenever you like.
Which files can I download?
Download an edition ZIP containing EPUB, DOCX, a template cover, Markdown, your JSON backup, metadata and a checklist. Empty chapters block edition export. Review the files in a reader and word processor before publishing.
Do I need to pay to start?
The current manual workspace is free, with no payment details required. Paid AI features and their pricing will be announced when they are ready.
